New Year = New Goals!!

The new year is right around the corner. What have you done to prepare your craft business for the new year? My first suggestion for you would to be make some new goals! The new year is always a great time to take a step back and analyse what you've done over the past year. What have you noticed that works for you? What have you noticed that doesn't work for you? Remember, just because one thing works for someone else doesn't always mean that it will work for you. So take the time now to figure out what works and what doesn't. What about some new ideas you've been wanting to try? Take all this information and sit down and write out your goal plan for the new year. Make it fun and realistic. Once you write down what your goals are (month to month or week to week) write down a short plan on how you plan to reach each of these goals.  Remember to make your goals reachable. Small steps is what will make this next year a success! If you've been pondering the idea of starting your own craft business or even just selling your crafts here and there on the side, now is a great time to make yourself a plan to make it happen. Remember, do what you love and the rest will follow!

Starting Up Your Craft Business & Keep It Going!

I see many people who started out in the crafting industry just to give up a few months down the road. The main problem is they either didn't love what they were doing or expected to get rich quick with selling the end product. Let me tell you now you must LOVE what you do and you should not expect to "get rich quick" selling your crafts. I'm sure there are few people who have been lucky enough to have fast success, but for most of us it will be a slower process. And that's perfectly fine, especially if you love what you do! Crafters shouldn't really expect full on profits until 6-12 months. This is including your start up fees and your materials. So how do you keep momentum going? Maybe these few pointers will help:

*Start your business out slow. Don't expect to much to fast. Just relax, do what you love, and go with the flow!
*Time management is also key. Do what you can, when you can. You don't want to burn yourself out! Save all of that valuable energy for when you build a good number of clientele.
*Get involved in your crafting community for new ideas and support. It's always great to know someone else is going thru the same thing you are!

So start out slow and then watch your business grow! Best wishes to you all and have fun doing what you do!
